Each year the Arts and Business Council of Sacramento celebrates the companies, organizations and individuals who have made a meaningful contribution to support our region's arts and cultural assets. The Prelude luncheon draws 350-400 business and community leaders as well as arts professionals from the world of theatre, dance, music, literature, history and arts education......plus a few political guests as part of the mix. It is nearly impossible not to meet some interesting people!
In 2010, Prelude to the Season highlighed Sacramento's "Creative Capital", the inventory of artists and creatives contributing significantly to our regional economy. West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon will be giving a special keynote presentation to kick off the festivities. The afternoon's entertainment lineup showcased some of the area's best: an aria by Julie Anne Miller of the Sacramento Opera; a performance by the cast of the cast of 'Suds: the Rocking 60's Musical Soap Opera at The Cosmopolitan Cabaret; a music video from the Sacramento Film and Music Festival; and a comedic musical parody by Kitty O'Neal of KFBK and Muriel Johnson of the California Arts Council.
Thank you to our sponsors of Prelude 2010!

"The Arts & Business Council’s “Prelude to the Season” highlights the vibrancy and excitement the Arts brings to the Sacramento region. It’s always fun to see a glimpse of what the upcoming season will bring, and we always leave marking our calendars with the many “can’t miss” productions that we need to attend. At The Bee, we are proud to support the people and organizations that continue to provide our region with visual and performing arts that are imaginative, innovative, and inspiring.”

"For 30 years, the community has supported Sports Leisure Vacations. We strongly believe in giving back, particularly to the cultural arts community. Being a sponsor for the Arts & Business Council not only insures our dollars go towards the arts, but we also receive some wonderful exposure to our target audience."
Mark Hoffman, CEO, Sports Leisure Vacations |

“By purchasing a table for several years at Prelude to the Season, I've been able to honor friends and business acquaintances who have supported the local arts scene, as patrons, theater goers and artists. I consider this one of the region’s unique networking opportunities — a face-to-face version of LinkedIn (and much more nutritious).”
